Review of Hunter Specialty Johnny Stewart Predator Call

Anyone on a tight budget that enjoys predator hunting as much as I do will appreciate this call.  For just $29.99 this call packs quite a wallop!  Plus it's WIRELESS!! That's the part I was looking at when I bought mine!  I mean come on a WIRELESS caller at that price???  I have called in coyotes, bobcats, coons and possums with this call believe me or not IT WORKS!!! If you don't want to take my word for it read the reviews on the bottom of  this page.  The wireless transmitter works effectively out to about 50 yrds, which really helps to disguise any movement you make. It has a remote that is easy to work, it has five calls Desperate Cottontail, Coy/wolf Bark/Howls, Coyote Pup Distress, Fawn Bleating and Vittles A'la Jackrabbit and a stop call button.  With my call I have called up cats within minutes of setting up, sitting down, and starting to call.  We have thick underbrush here in Missouri so even if it had more range I wouldn't need it because I LOVE to get the game close that way I don't
end up with a wounded animal on my hands.  It helps also to have some kind of decoy
for the animal to focus on. You can find several on my decoy page or on the amazon
site here
I've read stories of people using stuffed animals, live animals, but personally I use a hide that I have tanned from a domestic rabbit.  White preferably that way it's more visible, and to add movement I use a spool of fishing line tied to the limb I drape the hide over.
If you don't like the sounds on the first caller, they have another caller mod PT-1 (shown on left at top) Basically same as first caller in this review, but with different sounds that are: Baby Bird - Cotton Tail - Puppy Cries - Rodent - Woodpecker.  This is actually the one I wanted when I bought it at a famous name brand store, but they were out of them so I took the other.  I spent allot more on mine at the time(Amazon done it to me again!)  Wish I'd have known about Amazon years ago, I'd have twice as much hunting gear! :D  Well, now it softens the blow when I tell my wife about all the new "Toys" that I want.  "At least it's more inexpensive honey!!"

Need a new hunting knife?

Are you in the market for a new hunting knife?  Well, let me help a little if I may!  I want to talk to you about this knife.  It's the Schrade Golden Spike Knife.

Ok why in the world would you listen to me about this knife.  Simple, I've used it for over 15 years, and it is my main hunting knife.  If I only take one knife with me to the woods, (which usually doesn't happen! lol) then it is this knife.  I got it for Christmas from my wife the first year we met!  Now over 15 yrs later I still carry this knife!  I HONESTLY believe this is the best knife I've ever owned.  On my knife page I told you about the first hunting knife I owned, the KA-BAR Little Finn, and it is definately my second choice for a hunting knife.  I say second only because after I lost it in the woods one year when I was dragging a big buck out, my girlfriend at the time (wife now) found me this schrade and bought it for me for Christmas.  Hey what can I say?  She bought me a great knife, so I married her!  Well there were a FEW other good reasons too! lol

I can not tell you how many deer, turkey, squirrels, coyotes, bobcats, and various other critters I've skinned and processed with this knife.  My step father has a cardboard sharpening wheel that he uses to sharpen all of our knives, and I can tell you between the 440C High Carbon Stainless Steel blade and my step fathers cardboard sharpening wheel I can and have shaved with this knife.  ( I done it just to prove a point although I prefer bic disposables, it worked!!!)

It is also a very "beautiful" knife it features a stag handle, and brass hardware. when it is shined up nice, I have to keep it tucked inside my coveralls, because I don't like anything shiney when I'm in the deer woods.  If a shiney knife would scare off a deer I'm sure this one would.  Very pretty and it also comes with a very nice genuine leather sheath. so at around 27 bucks you CAN NOT go wrong!  Just FYI my wife paid a LOT more for mine at the time and at some other unnamed retail store.
